A dermatosis with pruritic sterile papules and pustules that come together to form plaques with papulovesicular borders, and a tendency toward central clearing and hyperpigmentation, with spontaneous exacerbations and remissions. Proton-pump inhibitor-responsive esophageal eosinophilia (PPI-REE) is a rare, gastroenterologic disease characterized by typical clinical, endoscopic and histological features of eosinophilic esophagitis (i.e. symptomatic esophageal dysfunction associated with eosinophil-predominant mucose infiltrate) which completely remits upon proton pump inhibitor therapy. A rare skeletal muscle disease with characteristics of eosinophilic infiltration and inflammatory lesions of the skeletal muscle tissue in the absence of an identifiable causative factor (for example parasitic infection, drug intake, systemic or malignant disease). Clinically patients may present focal or generalized muscle weakness and pain, difficulties with walking, motor clumsiness, as well as elevated serum creatine kinase levels and peripheral blood and/or bone marrow hypereosinophilia.
